Claude Code for Everyone: Core

The working level for non-technical builders: keeping your Claude Code-built tools alive and useful. Learners improve and fix their own tools, connect them safely to real files and data, and reuse what works. They finish knowing their limits - and exactly when to hand something to an engineer.

What this course covers

The course runs across 12 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.

  • Spotting Sensitive Data Before You Build — Learn how to spot customer details and private numbers in everyday spreadsheets before using them in tools.
  • Creating Safe Mock Data for Testing — Build fake customer names, sample emails, and test numbers so you can test tools without risking real records.
  • Connecting Claude Code to Local Files Safely — Grant read-only access to specific folders on your computer so your tool can read files without altering them.
  • Guarding Against Accidental Overwrites and Deletions — Set up simple safety rules so a script never erases your team's master spreadsheets or working documents.
  • Finding Why a Tool Failed on Real Data — Learn how to spot the root cause when a tool breaks because a spreadsheet has missing columns or blank rows.
  • Prompting Claude Code to Fix Broken Code — Feed error messages into Claude Code and ask for targeted fixes without breaking working parts of your tool.
  • Adding Small Improvements Step by Step — Safely ask Claude Code to add one simple feature at a time, such as a summary column or email alert.
  • Packaging Your Tool for Teammates — Set up a shared project folder so colleagues can run your tool on their own computers without errors.
  • Writing Quick Run Guides and Common Fixes — Document five simple steps to run the tool and three easy fixes for typical errors teammates might see.
  • Saving Reusable Prompts and Commands — Store the exact prompts and settings that worked so your team can reuse them across different projects.
  • Recognizing When to Stop and Call an Engineer — Identify red flags like handling user passwords, managing company databases, or running tools for thousands of users.
  • Preparing a Clean Engineering Handoff Package — Gather your working prototype, sample data, and run notes into a neat summary that software engineers can immediately use.

Skills you build

Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.

Who it is for

Non-technical employees who built their first tools. The material is pitched at intermediate level, and takes roughly 150 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.

It sits in the Tool: Claude track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.

How it is delivered and assessed

Delivery is conversational and interactive, including guided lab, branching scenario, code lab exercises. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.

Understanding is checked with a lab assessment of 5 items, with a pass mark of 70%.

Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.
