AI fundamentals training for every employee
Vero AI Catalog › AI fundamentals training
Most AI training programmes fail at the start, not the end. They assume everyone already knows what a model is, what it is bad at, and what should never be pasted into it, and then wonder why adoption stalls at the enthusiasts. The Vero AI Catalog's fundamentals track is the shared baseline: eleven short introductions for people who have never opened an AI tool, and ten Foundation courses that turn that first contact into safe, productive habits — prompting, verifying output, protecting data, and knowing when not to use AI at all.
OneRange Vero delivers every one of these as an interactive session, not a video. The tutor explains, tries the idea on the kind of task the person actually does, checks that it landed and adapts the next step. Someone who is already comfortable with AI moves through the introductions in minutes; someone anxious about it is not rushed. Results are recorded against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy, so a manager sees who has the baseline and who does not, and can assign the whole track to the company in one step.

Foundation courses
- AI Foundations: How Generative AI Works — This course gives every employee a clear mental model of how generative AI actually works, from tokens and prediction to training data and context windows. Learners explore what today's models can and can't do, why they sometimes produce confident-but-wrong answers, and how the major tools fit into the landscape. By the end they share a common vocabulary and realistic expectations for using AI at work. (Level: beginner · 120 minutes · FND-101)
- Prompting Essentials — Learners build the core skill of writing clear, effective prompts that produce reliable results in any AI tool. The course breaks down the anatomy of a strong prompt - role, context, format, and examples - and shows how to iterate when the first response misses. Participants leave able to get consistently better output and avoid the most common prompting mistakes. (Level: beginner · 120 minutes · FND-102)
- Responsible & Safe AI Use — This course helps employees recognize the real risks in AI output - bias, hallucination, and inappropriate use - and apply sound human judgment. It covers where AI is and isn't appropriate, how to keep a human in the loop, and how to use AI ethically and safely. Learners finish able to spot red flags and make responsible decisions about when to trust AI. (Level: beginner · 90 minutes · FND-103)
- Data Privacy & Security with AI — Employees learn how to protect sensitive data and stay compliant when using AI tools. The course covers what should never be shared, how AI tools retain and handle data, the risks of unapproved 'shadow AI,' and how to follow company policy and enterprise settings. Participants leave knowing exactly how to keep company and customer information safe. (Level: beginner · 90 minutes · FND-104)
- Working Alongside AI: Productivity Habits — This course builds durable habits for getting real value from AI day to day. Learners practice choosing the right tool for a task, verifying output before relying on it, and weaving AI into existing workflows rather than bolting it on. They also learn to measure their own time savings so adoption sticks. (Level: beginner · 90 minutes · FND-105)
- Fact-Checking & Verifying AI Output — Learners develop a repeatable process to catch errors, hallucinations, and outdated information before acting on AI output. The course covers sourcing and citations, cross-checking facts, recognizing where models are likely to be wrong, and knowing when to escalate to a human expert. The result is confident, accurate use of AI without blind trust. (Level: beginner · 90 minutes · FND-106)
- When NOT to Use AI — This short course builds the judgment to recognize tasks where AI is the wrong tool - high-stakes decisions, sensitive data, and work that demands full accuracy. Learners practice quick task-fit calls on realistic scenarios and leave knowing when to close the chatbot and do it themselves. (Level: beginner · 30 minutes · FND-110)
- Staying Current: Keeping Up with AI — AI changes monthly, and this course gives employees a lightweight system for keeping up without drowning. Learners pick trusted sources, set a 15-minute weekly cadence, and learn to separate real capability shifts from hype. (Level: beginner · 30 minutes · FND-112)
Go deeper
- Human + AI Collaboration Patterns — Learners study the collaboration patterns that make human-AI teams productive: what to delegate, what to keep, and how to structure review loops. They practice redesigning one of their own tasks around a draft-review pattern and leave with a working division of labor. (Level: intermediate · 90 minutes · FND-111)
- Understanding Model Limitations & Failure Modes — A deeper look at why models fail: the taxonomy of hallucinations, reasoning breakdowns, stale knowledge, and confident-but-wrong output. Learners reproduce classic failure modes hands-on and build a personal checklist of mitigations for each. (Level: intermediate · 120 minutes · FND-201)

How the training works
Every course here is delivered by OneRange Vero as an interactive session. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past: the tutor explains an idea, works an example, asks the person to try it, and adjusts what comes next to the answer it gets back. Practice, scenarios, labs and role-plays are part of the session rather than an add-on.
Courses can be grounded in your own material, so examples, terminology and policies match how your company actually works. Results map to named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill instead of a completion tick. Assign to one person, a team or the whole company, and track progress from the Vero dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the training take?
The introductions run 18 to 30 minutes each and the Foundation courses 90 to 120 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, people who already know a topic finish far faster, and the whole track can be spread across a few weeks rather than taken in one sitting.
How is it assigned to a team?
An administrator assigns it from the Vero dashboard to one person, a team, a department or everyone at once. Progress and results appear per person and per skill, so a manager can see who has finished, who is mid-course, and where the remaining gaps are.
Can we customise it with our own documents and terminology?
Yes. An administrator can add your company's own standing instructions, examples and documents so the course teaches the tool in the context of your systems, terminology and policies, without changing the underlying catalog course. See how the customization layer works on the Vero page.
Is there an assessment?
Yes. The General AI Fluency Assessment measures the four things this track teaches and reports a level per skill; a shorter AI literacy check and an AI readiness baseline are also available. Every course ends with its own check as well.
