What's New in Claude Cowork

A short refresher on the latest Claude Cowork updates

What this course covers

The course runs across 7 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.

  • Chat and Cowork are now one Claude — What's different: You no longer pick Chat or Cowork first, because any conversation can now answer a quick question or take on a big Cowork-style task, starting with Pro and Max on Sep 16 and reaching Enterprise on Oct 23. Why it matters for your work: You can hand Claude a whole report, spreadsheet or deck from the same chat where you ask quick questions, and your old Cowork tasks, projects, connectors and skills carry over. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open Claude, check whether the message box still shows Chat and Cowork buttons, then in any chat ask: "Go through these notes and give me a one-page summary as a Word document." Needs: Pro and Max plans. No access? Here's what you'd see: Users will no longer see separate Chat or Cowork buttons when starting a new conversation.
  • Cowork has its own built-in browser — What's different: The Claude desktop app now has a browser built in, so Cowork can open websites, read pages, click and fill in forms without the Chrome extension. Why it matters for your work: You can hand off web chores like pulling numbers from a vendor portal while you keep working, without Claude touching your own tabs or passwords. Try it (about 2 minutes): In the desktop app, ask Claude to "Open our company website and list every page in the main menu," then watch the browser panel; switch browsers anytime in Settings > Cowork > Preferred browser. Needs: the Claude desktop app. No access? Here's what you'd see: A built-in browser panel will appear in the desktop app when Cowork opens websites or fills in forms.
  • Cowork tasks now always run in the cloud — What's different: On Pro and Max plans, new Cowork tasks now run on Anthropic's servers, and the "Only on your computer" setting was removed. Why it matters for your work: Your tasks keep going when your laptop is closed and show up on every device, but Claude can still reach your local folders only while the desktop app is open. Try it (about 2 minutes): If you need a task to stay only on your own computer, open the old task, choose "Download task data," and continue it in Claude Code in the desktop app instead. Needs: the Claude desktop app. No access? Here's what you'd see: In Settings > General, the "Only on your computer" option is gone, and new Cowork tasks now run on Anthropic's servers. Renamed or removed: "Only on your computer" option in Settings > General removed
  • Cowork shares memory with chat — What's different: Cowork now uses the same memory as chat, and you can see, edit or delete each saved item under Topics in Settings > Memory. Why it matters for your work: Claude starts each task already knowing your projects, your manager and how you like things done, so you spend less time re-explaining. Try it (about 2 minutes): Go to Settings > Memory, open Topics, and fix or delete one item that is out of date. No access? Here's what you'd see: A Topics section will appear under Settings > Memory, showing saved items shared between chat and Cowork.
  • Claude in Chrome is out of beta on paid plans — What's different: Claude in Chrome is now generally available on every paid plan and can approve safe browser actions on its own, with a safety check that blocks steps that don't match your request. Why it matters for your work: Claude can now work through longer jobs in the web apps you already use, like your CRM or inbox, without asking you to approve every click. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open the Claude side panel in Chrome on a page you trust and ask it to summarize the page; if you'd rather approve each step yourself, turn off automatic approval in the extension settings. No access? Here's what you'd see: Users can open the Claude side panel in Chrome and find an automatic approval option within the extension settings.
  • Also new — - Chat and Cowork merge for Enterprise, on by Nov 16: Enterprise admins can now enable a combined chat-and-Cowork experience, which becomes the default on November 16, 2026. - Cowork makes regular artifacts now: Cowork now generates standard artifacts that can be edited on the web, while older artifacts become read-only. - Chrome side panel now runs a Cowork session: Tasks started in the Chrome side panel now run as Cowork sessions and save to history. - Portal for submitting plugins to Claude: Developers on paid plans can now submit plugins to the Claude directory through a new portal. - Claude Marketplace for plugins and connectors: Anthropic launched the Claude Marketplace to help teams find over two thousand connectors, plugins, and partner products. - Security scans for skills and plugins: Enterprise organizations now have third-party skills and plugins automatically scanned for security by default. - Small Business plugin adds new workflows: The Claude for Small Business plugin added twenty-seven new integrations, expanding to forty-three ready-made workflows.
  • Try one on your own work — Pick the one main change from this course that is most useful to your job. Try it in your own Claude Cowork on a real task, then paste or describe what you got. The coach gives short, specific feedback. No access to the app or plan it needs? Describe how you would use it on a real task this week. That counts too. There is no score and no pass or fail: finishing this completes the course.

Skills you build

Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.

Who it is for

The material is pitched at intermediate level, and takes roughly 20 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.

It sits in the Tool: Claude track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.

How it is delivered and assessed

Delivery is conversational and interactive. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.

Understanding is checked with a lab assessment, with a pass mark of 70%.

Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.
