Claude Code for Everyone: Advanced — Multi-Step Tools & Agents
The advanced level for non-technical builders whose Claude Code tools now have several steps and real users. Learners plan before building, break a bigger tool into steps they can check, write CLAUDE.md rules in plain language, undo safely, connect work apps with approvals, let Claude Code test its own work, hand work off to the cloud or a schedule where their plan allows, choose how much it may do without asking, and keep secrets and company data out. No code.
What this course covers
The course runs across 10 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.
- Planning before building — Ask Claude Code for a plan in the mode that only plans, question it, and change it before anything is built. Learners see how a good plan saves rework on a multi-step tool.
- Breaking a bigger tool into steps you can check — Split the tool into small steps - clean, match, book, report - and check each one on sample data before moving on.
- Rules that keep Claude Code consistent, in plain language — Write CLAUDE.md rules such as 'never change the original files' and 'stop and ask if a rule is unclear', and see how every new session follows them.
- Undoing safely with checkpoints — Use rewind (Esc twice or /rewind) to go back to before a bad change, and learn its limit: it undoes Claude's own file edits but not files changed only by commands, so originals stay untouched.
- Connecting work apps, and why approvals matter — Connectors let Claude Code reach apps like calendars or email with your own sign-in and permissions. Learners decide which actions must always ask first, such as sending, deleting or changing records.
- Letting Claude Code test its own work — Ask Claude Code to run the tool on sample data and show the results, while you check them against answers worked out by hand.
- Handing work off: cloud sessions and schedules (if your plan includes it) — Start work that runs in the cloud while your computer is off, or schedule a weekly re-run, and check the results when you come back. Learners design a manual re-run if these are not available.
- How much it may do without asking — Compare the mode that asks before every change, the one that accepts file edits, the one where a safety check reviews each action, and plan only, and choose one for building, re-runs and anything that sends messages.
- Keeping secrets and company data out — Decide what data must never go into a tool, use fake data until IT agrees otherwise, and never paste passwords or keys into a request.
- Capstone: a multi-step team tool — Plan, build and test a multi-step scheduling helper with CLAUDE.md rules, hand-checked results, approval choices and a re-run design.
Skills you build
Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.
Who it is for
Non-technical builders whose tools other people now use. The material is pitched at advanced level, and takes roughly 150 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.
It sits in the Tool: Claude track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.
How it is delivered and assessed
Delivery is conversational and interactive, including guided lab, branching scenario exercises. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.
Understanding is checked with a lab assessment of 5 items, with a pass mark of 70%.
Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.
