A hands-on introduction to working productively with ChatGPT. Learners find their way around Chat and Work, select the right model, prompt effectively, set custom instructions and memory, hand ChatGPT a simple Work task, and work with images and voice. They leave ready to use ChatGPT for writing, brainstorming, quick analysis and small multi-step tasks.

What this course covers

The course runs across 8 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.

  • Navigating ChatGPT: Chat, Work and the Right Model — Find your way around the sidebar and chat history, see where Chat and Work sit (the desktop app also has Codex for coding; the old desktop app is now ChatGPT Classic), and choose a fast everyday option or a deeper-thinking option. Names change often and depend on your plan, so use what your own screen shows.
  • Core Prompting Techniques for Writing and Brainstorming — Master the fundamentals of effective prompting. Practice crafting clear instructions, providing context, specifying output formats, and using iterative prompting to draft emails, articles, and creative ideas.
  • Advanced Prompting: Roles, Constraints, and Few-Shot Examples — Deepen your prompting skills by assigning personas/roles to ChatGPT, applying strict formatting constraints, and using few-shot prompting (providing examples) to get highly accurate, tailored outputs.
  • Chat or Work? Handing ChatGPT a Task — Use Chat for a quick answer and Work when you want ChatGPT to take a few steps and produce a finished file. Start a Work task by describing the outcome, read its plan and check-ins, and check the result before you share it. Work is in the desktop app when your plan and workspace include it, and admins can turn it off; on web and mobile it also depends on your plan.
  • Configuring Custom Instructions and Managing Memory — Set up your global user profile using Custom Instructions to define who you are and how you want ChatGPT to respond. Learn how to view, edit, and manage ChatGPT's persistent memory.
  • Working with Images: Vision and Generation — Explore multimodal capabilities. Practice uploading images for analysis, troubleshooting, or transcription, and learn how to write prompts that generate high-quality images with ChatGPT's built-in image generation (ChatGPT Images).
  • Using Voice Mode for Hands-Free Collaboration — Understand how to use ChatGPT's voice capabilities on mobile and desktop. Practice brainstorming, practicing conversations, and conducting real-time Q&A using natural speech.
  • Synthesizing Skills: The Everyday Productivity Workflow — Combine model choice, good prompting, custom instructions, multimodal input and one small Work task to solve a realistic workplace scenario, checking what ChatGPT produced before you use it.

All employees. The material is pitched at beginner level, and takes roughly 120 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.

How it is delivered and assessed

Delivery is conversational and interactive, including guided lab, branching scenario exercises. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.
