What's New in ChatGPT for Everyone
A short refresher on the latest ChatGPT for Everyone updates
What this course covers
The course runs across 7 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.
- GPT-6 in Chat, with visual answers — What's different: The Chat tab now runs on GPT-6, which can answer with tables, diagrams and small tools like calculators, and can start showing an answer while it is still working. Why it matters for your work: Comparisons and numbers can now come back as something you can click and use, not just a wall of text. Try it (about 2 minutes): In the Chat tab, ask "Compare three project management tools side by side" or "Build me a tip and bill splitter" and see what format it picks. No access? Here's what you'd see: In the Chat tab, GPT-6 answers can display tables, diagrams, and small tools like calculators, starting to show while still being generated.
- Upload audio files to transcribe them — What's different: Paid users can attach audio recordings to a chat to get a transcript, a summary or answers about what was said. Why it matters for your work: A recorded meeting, interview or lecture can become notes or a follow-up email in a minute. Try it (about 2 minutes): Attach a short voice memo or meeting recording to a chat and ask for a summary with action items and a draft follow-up email. Needs: a paid plan. No access? Here's what you'd see: Paid users will see an option to attach audio files to chats for transcription and summarization.
- ChatGPT inside Microsoft Word — What's different: ChatGPT now works in a sidebar in Microsoft Word, joining Excel and PowerPoint, on all plans including Free. Why it matters for your work: You can draft, summarize and fix formatting without leaving the document you are working on. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a Word document, open the ChatGPT sidebar from the add-in, select a paragraph and ask it to make the text shorter and clearer. No access? Here's what you'd see: You will see a ChatGPT sidebar add-in inside Microsoft Word to draft, summarize, and format text.
- Work has its own, newer model list — What's different: ChatGPT Work now offers a new GPT-6 model family (a strong model for complex jobs and a lighter one for quick, high-volume tasks), and these choices are separate from the models in Chat. Why it matters for your work: Picking the right model in Work can make long, multi-step tasks faster or better, and what you picked in Chat does not carry over. Try it (about 2 minutes): Switch to Work, open the model list in the composer, and compare the options and reasoning levels you see with those in Chat. No access? Here's what you'd see: You will see a separate GPT-6 model family list when using ChatGPT Work.
- Custom GPTs are moving to plugins — What's different: OpenAI announced that custom GPTs will be retired on every plan, with a path to move them into plugins, which can bundle saved instructions with connected apps. Why it matters for your work: If your team relies on a custom GPT, it will need to become a plugin, so you should know which GPTs you use and who owns them. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open the GPTs you use most, write down each one's name and creator, and browse the Plugins directory to see where similar tools now live. No access? Here's what you'd see: Learners will see that custom GPTs will be retired on every plan, with plugins serving as their future replacement.
- Also new — - GPT-5.5 retired from ChatGPT and Work: OpenAI has retired the GPT-5.5 model from ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex. - Space and Pages for shared work: Space and Pages replace Library, letting you turn chats into shared, editable documents with teammates. - Deep research inside Work: You can now run deep research in ChatGPT Work to generate editable documents, slides, spreadsheets, or Sites. - No more automatic switch to Thinking: ChatGPT no longer automatically switches to Thinking, and the Higher intelligence setting has been removed. - Tasks that run on Gmail, Slack or GitHub events: Scheduled tasks in Work can now trigger automatically based on Gmail, Slack, or GitHub events. - Switch between two accounts in the mobile app: The ChatGPT mobile apps now let you stay signed in to and switch between two accounts. - Connect iCloud Mail and Calendar: ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and Calendar across web, desktop, and iPhone apps. - Lock private chats behind a PIN: You can now lock and hide private chats behind a four-digit PIN or device unlock. - Make and co-edit slide decks: ChatGPT Slides now lets you build, co-edit, present, and export slide presentations directly from your chats. - Temporary chats can use memory and be saved: Temporary chats can now use your memories, custom instructions, and plugins, and be saved to history.
- Try one on your own work — Pick the one main change from this course that is most useful to your job. Try it in your own ChatGPT on a real task, then paste or describe what you got. The coach gives short, specific feedback. No access to the app or plan it needs? Describe how you would use it on a real task this week. That counts too. There is no score and no pass or fail: finishing this completes the course.
Skills you build
Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.
Who it is for
The material is pitched at intermediate level, and takes roughly 20 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.
It sits in the Tool: ChatGPT track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.
How it is delivered and assessed
Delivery is conversational and interactive. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.
Understanding is checked with a lab assessment, with a pass mark of 70%.
Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.
