What's New in Synthesia
A short refresher on the latest Synthesia updates
What this course covers
The course runs across 7 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.
- Syren builds whole videos from a prompt — What's different: Syren is a new way to make videos in Synthesia, now in beta, where you describe a video or add a file and an AI agent builds it with motion graphics, avatars, voiceover and music while you watch. Why it matters for your work: You can turn a brief, PDF or help article into a polished explainer in minutes and change it by chatting instead of building each scene by hand. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open Syren from the Tools section of the navigation menu, pick Wide or Tall, type "Make a 30-second video explaining our new expense policy to staff," send it, then ask Syren to change one thing. No access? Here's what you'd see: The Syren interface displays options for Wide or Tall layouts, a prompt input box, and a chat panel.
- Layouts give you ready-made scene designs — What's different: A new Layouts tab next to Template offers a library of ready-made scene designs you can preview in different themes and apply with one click. Why it matters for your work: Your scenes look polished faster, and your script and content stay as they are when you swap the design. Try it (about 2 minutes): Add a new scene, open the Layouts tab, try one of the suggested layouts, preview it in two themes, then undo if you prefer the old look. No access? Here's what you'd see: The Layouts tab opens a panel that displays ready-made scene designs and suggested layouts.
- Turn a PowerPoint deck into a Syren video — What's different: When you import a PowerPoint from the Home page, you can now choose to redesign it as a Syren video or keep your slides as editable scenes like before. Why it matters for your work: Training and update decks can become videos that look designed, not just slides with a voiceover. Try it (about 2 minutes): On the Home page, import a short PowerPoint deck, choose the Syren redesign option, and compare the result with the Keep my slides option. No access? Here's what you'd see: After importing a PowerPoint, a menu displays the Syren redesign option and the Keep my slides option.
- Label every video as AI-generated — What's different: Admins can now add a visible "AI generated" label to every video in the workspace, and you can turn it on just for your own videos. Why it matters for your work: It helps your team meet AI transparency rules, such as the EU AI Act, without adding labels by hand. Try it (about 2 minutes): Go to Settings, then Preferences, turn on the AI content label for your videos, and open a video to see where the label appears and move it if needed. No access? Here's what you'd see: The Preferences menu displays the AI content label, and the video document shows the label.
- Make Synthesia videos from ChatGPT or Claude — What's different: The Synthesia connector (public beta, paid plans) lets you describe a video or paste a script in ChatGPT or Claude, pick a workspace and style, and generate and watch the video right in the chat. Why it matters for your work: You can go from a script you drafted with an AI assistant to a finished video without copying and pasting between tools. Try it (about 2 minutes): In ChatGPT, find Synthesia in the apps or plugin marketplace and connect; in Claude, add a custom connector with https://mcp.synthesia.io/mcp, then ask for a one-minute welcome video. No access? Here's what you'd see: The chat interface displays a video player showing the generated Synthesia video directly within the conversation.
- Also new — - Pick a creative direction in Syren first: Syren now presents three creative directions with previews and descriptions before building your video. - Survey Sessions run interviews with an avatar: Synthesia launched Sessions, featuring interactive avatar-led surveys and personalized roleplays. - Add burned-in captions to dubbed videos: You can now add burned-in captions that match the dubbed audio when translating videos. - Dub several videos in one batch: You can now upload and dub multiple videos at once on the Dubbing page. - Creator plan is now called Pro: The self-serve Creator plan has been renamed to Pro with new larger tiers added. - Stock voices read dates and numbers correctly: Stock voices now read dates, money, times, units, abbreviations, and Roman numerals more naturally. - Use Synthesia avatars in Syren videos: Syren videos can now use the same Synthesia avatars available in the editor. - Assistant matches the video length you ask for: Assistant now plans videos to your requested length using a new default Auto setting. - Bigger voice picker with filters and previews: The voice picker now opens as a full page with search, language, and accent filters. - Localization API dubs videos from your systems: A new Localization API allows developers to dub videos into multiple languages in a single request.
- Try one on your own work — Pick the one main change from this course that is most useful to your job. Try it in your own Synthesia on a real task, then paste or describe what you got. The coach gives short, specific feedback. No access to the app or plan it needs? Describe how you would use it on a real task this week. That counts too. There is no score and no pass or fail: finishing this completes the course.
Skills you build
Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.
Who it is for
The material is pitched at intermediate level, and takes roughly 20 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.
It sits in the Tool: Synthesia track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.
How it is delivered and assessed
Delivery is conversational and interactive. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.
Understanding is checked with a lab assessment, with a pass mark of 70%.
Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.
