What's New in Notion AI

A short refresher on the latest Notion AI updates

What this course covers

The course runs across 7 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.

  • Skills: save a prompt your whole team can reuse — What's different: Notion 3.7 added skills, which are reusable instructions saved as Notion pages that Notion Agent can run on demand or use on its own when they fit, plus a skills library in your Library to find shared ones. Why it matters for your work: Your team's best way of doing a repeat task, like an exec brief or a review checklist, can be run the same way by everyone instead of retyping prompts. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open the Skills tab in your Library, create a skill from a prompt you use often, then type / in a Notion Agent chat and run it on a page. No access? Here's what you'd see: A Skills tab appears in the Library, and typing / in a Notion Agent chat lets users run saved instructions on a page.
  • Notion Agent rebuilt, with a new Review for me mode — What's different: Notion Agent and Custom Agents now run on rebuilt infrastructure with their own computer and browser, can work on one task for much longer, and add a Review for me approval mode that checks risky actions before they happen. Why it matters for your work: You can hand the agent bigger, multi-step jobs and choose how often it stops to ask you before it changes pages or acts in connected apps. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a Notion Agent chat, open the approval setting at the top of the chat, and compare Always ask, Review for me and Skip all approvals before giving it a task. No access? Here's what you'd see: At the top of a Notion Agent chat, an approval setting displays options for Always ask, Review for me, and Skip all approvals.
  • Ask the agent to suggest edits you approve — What's different: You can now ask your agent to suggest edits instead of changing a page directly, then step through each proposed change and approve or skip it. Why it matters for your work: You stay in control of line-by-line changes, like a grammar pass on a document someone else wrote. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a draft page, ask Notion Agent to "suggest edits" for grammar and clarity, then go through the suggestions top to bottom and approve the ones you want.
  • Connect Notion Agent to 150+ outside tools — What's different: Notion Agent and Custom Agents can now use MCP connections to more than 150 tools, such as HubSpot, Stripe and GitHub, and you can simply ask the agent to connect a tool and it walks you through setup. Why it matters for your work: The agent can pull facts from the other tools you use and act there for you, with confirmation steps before it changes anything. Try it (about 2 minutes): Ask Notion Agent "what tools can you connect to?", or open Settings, then Connections, browse by category and check which tools your admin allows. No access? Here's what you'd see: Settings and Connections menus display options to connect Notion Agent to over 150 outside tools.
  • Meeting notes can kick off a Custom Agent — What's different: Custom Agents can now start automatically when an AI Meeting Note summary is finished, using the transcript and summary to post recaps, update trackers or file tasks. Why it matters for your work: Post-meeting chores like writing the recap and logging action items can happen without you doing them by hand. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a Custom Agent's settings, add the Meeting note summarized trigger, choose which meetings start it, and check its output after your next call.
  • Also new — - Auto now picks the AI model for you: The default Auto option in the model picker now automatically selects and switches models for tasks. - Version history shows who changed what, including agents: Version history now highlights edits and records whether a person or an agent made each change. - Column permissions in databases: Database owners can now restrict view and edit access for specific properties or columns. - Use your ChatGPT plan inside Notion Agent: Business and Enterprise users can connect their own ChatGPT plans to use inside Notion Agent. - Custom Agents can hand work to other agents: Custom Agents can now call other Custom Agents as sub-agents to combine their answers. - Notion Agents app for iPhone: Notion released a dedicated Notion Agents iOS app to capture ideas and assign tasks on mobile. - Notion MCP splits Notion search from connected-app search: Notion MCP splits the main search tool from a new tool for searching connected apps. - Notion MCP overhaul for outside AI agents: Notion MCP was overhauled with memory sync and admin controls to view or revoke connected AI tools. - Synced databases rebuilt for GitHub, Jira, Salesforce: Synced databases for GitHub, Jira, and Salesforce were rebuilt to be faster and show sync health. - Simpler model picker with scorecards: The model picker now features a shortlist of top models, performance scorecards, and favorite pinning. - and 3 more: Health tab shows how your Notion connections are doing; Embed a Custom Agent right in a page; API page reads now skip pending suggested edits
  • Try one on your own work — Pick the one main change from this course that is most useful to your job. Try it in your own Notion AI on a real task, then paste or describe what you got. The coach gives short, specific feedback. No access to the app or plan it needs? Describe how you would use it on a real task this week. That counts too. There is no score and no pass or fail: finishing this completes the course.

Skills you build

Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.
