What's New in Canva AI

A short refresher on the latest Canva AI updates

What this course covers

The course runs across 7 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.

  • Canva Craft image model now in Dream Lab — What's different: Canva released Craft, its own image model built for design, and made it available to all Canva users through Dream Lab. Why it matters for your work: You can make sharper images for posts, posters and slides, with readable text in the image and the exact size you need. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open Dream Lab from the homepage (under More), describe a poster with a short headline, pick a size, generate, and check that the text in the image is spelled right.
  • AI writes presenter notes for your slides — What's different: Canva Presentations can now generate presenter notes for your slides, along with one-click presenting. Why it matters for your work: You get a first draft of what to say on each slide, which saves prep time before a meeting or talk. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a presentation you made, ask Canva AI to write presenter notes for the deck, then read the notes for one slide and edit them into your own words.
  • Sheets AI turns your data into charts for decks — What's different: Canva Sheets gained AI tools that analyze your data and turn it into charts and tables that you can drop into a Doc or presentation with a prompt. Why it matters for your work: You can go from a budget or tracker to a ready chart in a report or deck without exporting and re-uploading files. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a Canva Sheet with some numbers, open Canva AI, ask it to make a bar chart of one column, then add the chart to a presentation and check the values.
  • Brush model edits your designs in Canva AI — What's different: Canva AI now offers Brush, Canva's own design model, which you pick from the model menu to edit an open or attached design step by step while keeping every part editable. Why it matters for your work: You can restyle a whole deck, change one item across many pages, or turn a slide into a social post by asking in plain words instead of fixing each page by hand. Try it (about 2 minutes): Open a multi-page presentation, open the Canva AI panel, pick Brush from the model menu, ask it to change the color scheme on every slide, then check the slides and tweak anything by hand.
  • Craft images split more cleanly with Magic Layers — What's different: Images made with the new Craft model are built to work with Magic Layers, which turns a generated image into separate elements you can edit. Why it matters for your work: You can fix one word or move one object in an AI image instead of making the whole image again. Try it (about 2 minutes): Generate an image in Dream Lab, add it to a design, select it, open the edit options and choose Magic Layers, then move or change one element.
  • Also new — - Canva connector for Muse, from Meta: Canva launched a connector for Meta's Muse AI agent to create and export designs. - Canva ProSuite links Affinity to Brand Kit and Sheets: Canva launched ProSuite to connect Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish, and Leonardo with Canva Brand Kit and Sheets.
  • Try one on your own work — Pick the one main change from this course that is most useful to your job. Try it in your own Canva AI on a real task, then paste or describe what you got. The coach gives short, specific feedback. No access to the app or plan it needs? Describe how you would use it on a real task this week. That counts too. There is no score and no pass or fail: finishing this completes the course.

Skills you build

Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.

Who it is for

The material is pitched at intermediate level, and takes roughly 20 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.

It sits in the Tool: Canva AI track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.

How it is delivered and assessed

Delivery is conversational and interactive. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.

Understanding is checked with a lab assessment, with a pass mark of 70%.

Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.

Also in this track

  • Canva Magic Studio — This course shows how to create on-brand visuals and content with Canva's AI features. Learners use Magic Design, text-to-image, and Magic Write, and work with brand kits and resizing. They leave able to produce polished assets without a designer.
