Microsoft Copilot for Developers: Essentials — Code Review Playbook
A focused playbook for reviewing Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365 Copilot agents before they are published. Learners check instructions, descriptions, knowledge sources, tools and their credentials, authentication and sharing against the agent's stated purpose, judge review comments that may be wrong, and push back with specific changes. They leave with a routine that catches risky agents before users see them. About 45 minutes including the final.
What this course covers
The course runs across 3 topics, each one a short adaptive session rather than a recorded lecture. The tutor explains the idea, works an example, checks understanding, and adjusts the next step to the answer given.
- What to check in an agent before it is published — Compare the agent with its stated purpose line by line: instructions that say 'never refuse' or 'use your own knowledge', secrets pasted into instructions, vague descriptions the orchestrator relies on, knowledge outside the purpose, and settings such as Web Search and Allow ungrounded responses. Confirm each finding with an example question.
- Tools, credentials, authentication and sharing — Check how each tool signs in: End user credentials act with each person's own access, while maker-provided credentials act as the maker for everyone. Check authentication and who can chat. The security scan warns about No authentication, maker-provided credentials and sharing with everyone, but a person reviews the rest.
- Accept, reject or push back — Learners judge review comments, including confident ones that are wrong, and back each decision with the configuration and the docs. They then push back on a colleague who wants to publish today, asking for specific changes and a test set, and agree what must be fixed before publishing and what can follow later.
Skills you build
Results are measured against named skills in the OneRange taxonomy of more than 10,000 skills, so a manager sees proficiency per skill rather than a completion tick.
Who it is for
Software developers and technical builders. The material is pitched at beginner level, and takes roughly 45 minutes at a typical pace. Because every session adapts, someone who already knows a topic moves through it quickly instead of sitting through an explanation they do not need.
It sits in the Tool: Microsoft Copilot track of the Vero AI Catalog, and can be assigned to one person, a team, or the whole company.
How it is delivered and assessed
Delivery is conversational and interactive, including guided lab, role play exercises. There is no video to sit through and no slide deck to click past.
Understanding is checked with a lab assessment of 5 items, with a pass mark of 70%.
Administrators can copy this course into their own library and adapt it — edit the outline, change the duration, swap the assessment format, or ground it in internal documentation so answers cite the company's own source material.

- Microsoft Copilot for Developers: Essentials — Refactoring & Migration Playbook — A focused playbook for migrating and refactoring Copilot Studio agents without changing what users get. Learners record today's answers first, move a classic agent with tangled trigger-phrase topics to generative orchestration with clear descriptions and short instructions, and use before/after tests to tell wording changes from behaviour changes. They leave with a routine that keeps every migration protected by tests. About 45 minutes including the final.
- Microsoft Copilot for Developers: Essentials — Testing Playbook — A focused playbook for testing agents built on Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio. Learners write a test set of realistic, boundary, out-of-scope and adversarial questions, check every answer and every expected response against the source, trace failures to configuration changes, and re-run the same tests after each fix. They leave with a repeatable way to prove an agent still gives the right answers. About 45 minutes including the final.
- Microsoft Copilot: Essentials — Data & Analysis Playbook — A focused playbook for doing data and analysis work in Microsoft Copilot. Learners run real tasks end to end - data cleanup, analysis, charts, and interpretation - and leave with repeatable workflows they can use the same day. About 45 minutes including the final.
- Microsoft Copilot for Developers: Essentials — Docs & Onboarding Playbook — A focused playbook for documenting agents built on Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio and handing them over. Learners read an agent they didn't build, audit an out-of-date handover note against its configuration, write a note covering purpose, sources, tools, owners and known limits in which every claim is traced, and plan a new maintainer's first week. They leave with docs the next owner can trust. About 45 minutes including the final.
- Microsoft Copilot: Essentials — Research Playbook — A focused playbook for doing research and synthesis work in Microsoft Copilot. Learners run real tasks end to end - sources, citations, deep dives, and verification - and leave with repeatable workflows they can use the same day. About 45 minutes including the final.
- Microsoft Copilot for Developers Pathway — Microsoft Copilot for developers and technical builders: your first Microsoft 365 Copilot agent with Agent Builder, Copilot Studio and the Agents Toolkit (Essentials); Copilot Studio agents, topics, actions and ALM (Core); multi-agent systems, evaluation and release pipelines (Advanced); and extending Microsoft 365 Copilot with connectors, declarative agents and API plugins, with guardrails enforced in code (Mastery). Also includes 4 optional playbooks (Testing, Code Review, Refactoring & Migration, Docs & Onboarding) to take any time after Essentials; they don't count toward the certificate. GitHub Copilot has its own pathway.
