What we shipped in Vero in June — alternative assessment formats, full course version history, and a free AI Readiness Assessment you can share with execs and prospects

Welcome back. This month's release notes cover three of the bigger things we shipped in June — a new family of assessment formats that go beyond the multiple-choice quiz, full version history on every course, and a free AI Readiness Assessment we built as a lead magnet you can share with execs or prospects without asking them to sign up for anything.

Alternative assessment formats

The quiz at the end of a course was never the right shape for every skill. This month, authors can swap it for one of three new formats: a graded hands-on lab where the learner performs the procedure end-to-end, a code project where they ship working code against a spec, or an AI role-play where they have to navigate a realistic conversation. The AI grades each submission against a rubric you can edit before you publish, and the format can be changed on existing courses — Vero auto-bumps the version so completions stay attached to the version they were taken against.

The point is to match the assessment to the skill. Compliance still does well with a quiz. A new manager learning how to deliver tough feedback should be assessed on a role-play, not on whether they can recognize the right answer in a list. An engineer onboarding to your stack should ship a small project, not pick A/B/C/D.

Where to find it: Courses → create or edit a course → Step 2, "Assessment" → choose assessment type.

Course version history

Every course now keeps a full version history. Whenever you or a teammate edits a course, Vero snapshots the previous version. You can open the Versions panel to review past versions, restore an older one with a single click, and — importantly — learners who completed an older version keep their credit. No orphaned transcripts when you tighten a course's wording or swap an assessment.

This was the most-asked-for guardrail from teams running Vero as their system of record. Edits used to feel risky; now they don't.

Where to find it: Courses → open a course → Versions.

Free AI Readiness Assessment

We replaced the old "Preview Our AI" interactive demo on onerange.ai with a free AI Readiness Assessment — a short diagnostic that scores an organization across the AI skills that matter most for the roles on the team, then emails the buyer a tokenized dashboard they can share internally. No Vero account required. It's designed to be forwarded — to a CHRO, to a CEO, to a prospective customer, to your own exec team — as a concrete artifact that starts the conversation about where the gaps actually are.

If you're a customer, your account team can send you a link, or you can just point people to onerange.ai.

Where to find it: onerange.ai → "Take the AI Readiness Assessment".

Coming next

We have a few changes to Workforce Analytics we've been quietly testing with design partners that should land in July. If there's something you'd like us to highlight — or build — let your account team know.
