Assigning Training and Reading the Results in Vero

How admins assign courses to learners or teams, what notifications go out, and how to read insights once the training is complete
A course that no one is assigned to is just a draft sitting in your library. This guide walks through the full assignment lifecycle in Vero — from creating an assignment to reading the AI-generated insights after a learner completes it.
Creating an assignment
Assignments are created on a dedicated full-screen page rather than in a cramped modal, because picking learners, setting a due date, and writing a note shouldn't feel like a chore. You can assign to individual employees or to entire teams in one step. Every assignment can carry an optional note that shows up in the learner's notification email and at the top of their training screen.
Notifications and reminders
When you confirm an assignment, Vero sends a branded email through SendGrid — not a generic system notification — with the course name, your optional note, and a direct link into the course. If the learner hasn't started after seven days, a single reminder goes out automatically. We deliberately don't nag beyond that; one reminder is firm enough to be useful and quiet enough not to be ignored.
The unassign rule
You can unassign a course from a learner — but only if they haven't started it yet (status: not_started). Once someone is mid-course or has completed it, the assignment becomes a permanent record. This protects the integrity of training history: nobody's record can be quietly deleted, and a completed course always stays attributed to a specific learner and a specific course version.
Tracking progress in the dashboard
The manager dashboard has two tabs at the top: To-Do and Completed. To-Do is what your team still owes — assigned, not_started, or in_progress. Completed is everything finished, with the View Insights button enabled. We intentionally hide View Insights until a learner is done; there's nothing useful to show for an in-progress chat, and surfacing a half-empty insights page just creates confusion.
Reading the AI performance insights
Once a learner completes a course, Vero generates a one-time AI summary covering what they engaged with, where they struggled, and what skills they demonstrated. The summary sits alongside hard numbers — quiz score, time spent, completion date — and the course version they took. For managers running 1:1s, this is the page to open before the conversation: it tells you what to actually ask about.
A note on time tracking
Time spent reflects active session time only. If a learner backgrounds the tab or walks away, the timer pauses. When they close the tab mid-session, a final beacon is sent to capture the exact time spent. The number you see in the dashboard is what the learner actually put in, not what their tab was open for.
